2020-2021 Projects

The 2020-2021 school year was historic and eventful. Several members of the Executive Board worked hard to re-establish CGS after it had been deactivated for two years.

Board members strove to:

  • create a liaison between the graduate students at Missouri S&T and the school administration
  • maintain open lines of communication with all the other governing bodies at Missouri S&T
  • worked to maximize the quality of life, develop leadership skills, and foster higher academic standards for the graduate community at Missouri S&T
  • represented the graduate community to advocate their opinions and concerns on various campus policies including but not limited to:
    • Meeting with the Dean of the College of Engineering and Computing to promote and enhance the academic, administrative, and social programs for the university community and for graduate students
    • Meeting with the Vice-Chancellor of Research and Graduate Studies to advocate for the interests and benefits of graduate students at Missouri S&T
    • Meeting with the Director of Student Involvement to help in reactivating the CGS at Missouri S&T
    • Meeting with the UM System's Insurance and Risk Assessment office to discuss the insurance fees paid by graduate students at Missouri S&T
  • Reviewed the new internship application form and had discussions with international affairs to modify and improve the form and the application process. One of the outcomes of these meetings was removing the limitation of doing only part-time internships during the fall and spring semesters
  • Represented graduate students at numerous meetings and campus committees

Members also worked to improve insurance issues for graduate students and made strides toward creating an ombudsman office on campus.
